Campin' with News 12: North Augusta Yellowjackets

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.---When Dan Pippen took over at North Augusta a year ago, he wasn't expecting to go 1 and 10. Unfortunately, that was the outcome. A year later, they've tried to put all that behind them.

Pippen did come to the program with a reputation for turning teams around like he did at South Aiken. While division one recruit Marcus Thurmond is a big time target at wide receiver, the team as a whole is still pretty young. They'll have a Junior quarterback and several new faces up front. Getting out of the gates quickly will be key.
Travis Murphy said, "When we started losing and stuff, and things went wrong, we just dropped our heads and this year we just can't do that."

"Losing is one of those things that gets snowballing" said coach Dan Pippen. "I think last year we had a lot better team then we showed because we just got use to losing. We've got to be able to overcome that. I think some of our kids and even some of our coaches kind of forgot what its like to win."

It'll be a challenge for the Yellowjackets, up first on the schedule, a home date with Strom Thurmond.
