WARRENTON, Ga.---Year two of the Lee Hutto era at Warren County should be good. Last season, the Screaming Devils surprised even the coaching staff with an eight win season and a deep run in the playoffs.
So why should '07 be better? It's simple...experience. The Devils return most of their skill position players including quarterback Tommy Seals. Hutto has installed his system and now that the kids have had a year to work with it, it's starting to sink in.
"It matters a lot because we have to know what to do in certain situations to suceed," says senior lineman Devonne Walls.
Coach Hutto adds, "Last year, everything was new. Our offense was new. Our defense was new. The concepts in special teams was new. Now everything is kind of old to them and we can line up and run things this time of year that we couldn't run at this point last year."
The Devils have what every team wants as well, a strong offensive line. Coach Hutto calls his guys up front the most improved part of the team.
"We have the experience and then, too, those kids are just bigger and stronger than they were last year. So, by being bigger and stronger than they were last year, that's gonna make a big difference in how they play," Hutto says.
The Devils are looking to get past the thirrd round this season in South Carolina class 1-A.
