Sandersville, GA--One of the more interesting teams to watch in the upcoming high school football season, Washington County. State semi-finalists a year ago, but getting back won't be easy for 2nd year head coach Joel Ingram.
One big reason, they lose Roscoe Walls, one of the most exciting running backs in the whole state. Deon Harden stepped in late and did the job, but he too has since graduated.
Don't feel sorry just yet, with the system in place Washington County has, a down year is better then most school's good years. Just don't ask for a prediction.
"I've never made a prediction and I never will because predictions will get you in trouble," said coach Joel Ingram with a smile. "We've got a young talented team and the only thing we're short on is game experience. We may take some lumps but I think the more these kids play, the better they're going to be."
Washington County will have a sophomore quarerback and other holes they'll need younger guys to fill in. With a tough non region schedule, trial by fire will be the way the team learns.
