One of the better teams in class 4-A and the state of South Carolina last season. The Hornets rattled off 10 wins before getting knocked out in the 1st round of the state playoffs.

This year is about maturity. Aiken doesn't have a whole lot. They lost quarterback Phillip Lee and multi threat option Taikwon Paige to graduation.

They do return running backs Cortez Abney and Marcel Harley but the key question is how fast can the new starters learn? So the seniors may feel a little added pressure to help the underclassmen step up.

Senior Defensive End Luther Hicks says, "They're a little afraid, a little timid but I'll work with them. We'll get 'em right out here."

Adds coach Carey Johnson, "You definitely have to be patient. That's something you learn over the years in this game with these kids and they really when they really get the concept of what we're trying to do."

The Hornets open the season at home August 17th against Beaufort.
