North Augusta ready for 2nd round of playoffs

Wednesday Nov. 18, 2009

North Augusta, SC--The rest of the area schools are still in the thick of the post season. Among them, North Augusta. The Jackets ready to hit the road this week to battle Goose Creek in round two.

The two teams actually met in a scrimmage before the season started and looking at that film has coach Dan Pippin concerned. That was a long time ago though as the Jackets are just about peaking. They're scoring early and often and playing some big time defense.

"Our offense can get ahead real quick and we just feed off that and step up the defense." said LJ Perry "If we don't get the ball first, the defense gets a stop then and get the offense fired up as well."

"I think that's been a huge key for us, we've been able to go out and the defense will stop them, we get the ball and we score and that's huge for us. It just gets us going and I think the kids feed off of it, they feed off of each other, they feed off the fans, the student section, everything." said coach Dan Pippin

Jacket coach Pippin is also concerned about the size factor, but it may be just coach talk as well. Goose Creek 9 and 3 on the year as North Augusta has just the one loss against them.
