Edgefield, SC--He may have been nervous before their title game, but Wardlaw's Stephen Balentine quickly settled down and had a game of a lifetime. When you hear 10 touchdowns and 640 yards of offense you think we're talking about the entire team. Not the case. Those were Balentine's numbers Friday night
It's also the reason he's the easiest selection we've ever had for our Operation Football Live, McDonald's player of the week. In the eight man title game, Balentine came up with the record setting performance. Nine touchdowns passing, 500 yards, another touchdown running and 154 yards on the ground. Counting the two point conversions, Balentine had his hand in 76 of the 78 points they scored.
"We played really good on offense, the line played real good, the backs ran through the holes, and the receivers caught the ball." said Stephen Balentine "There was a calm factor that got me through the game and I just focused on what I had to do and got it done. It was amazing actually, we never did an offensive performance like that before. The defense kind of lacked but other then that, it was a good game."
Good game? No really, it was a great game as Wardlaw laid claim to their second straight title. Here's a couple of more amazing numbers for ya for Balentine's career. According to the school, he has 45 rushing touchdowns and 65 passing, total yards in those two categories, over 7700
