Augusta, Ga--It's playoff time in the state of Georgia with all classes now ready to tee it up on Friday night. Among them, Richmond Academy. After two big wins, the Musketeers will host a first round game. They can give a big pat on the back for their win over Evans to senior running back Jerrel Anderson.
We honor Anderson this week as our Operation Football Live, McDonald's player of the week. The senior stood tall lighting up the Knights defense for 220 yards rushing and a fourth quarter score that put the game on ice. This cool customer has only gotten better since he first suited up three years ago.
"Well Jerrel came in and played as a sophomore and we knew he was a special player." said coach Chris Hughes "He had to grow mentally, understand the game, he started working harder in the weight room and it's paid off this year. He's got more touches this year with different situations we've been in and he's really performed well."
"I talk a lot more, pump up my team a little bit more and guys just love me and I love them." said Jerrel Anderson "During school and stuff we talk to our teammates and stuff, like we have study halls together so we get together as a team, just like brothers."
Anderson had the wind knocked out of him late in the game Friday, but after a quick trip to the sideline was right back in there doing what he does best, help carry the load for the Musketeers.
