Augusta, Ga--It seems like as the weeks have gone on, it's become tougher and tougher to find an Operation Footbal Liive, McDonald's player of the week. This week, no different. One big reason though for the improvement of Aquinas this year can go to quarterback Dane Anderson.
Only a sophomore, Anderson took his game to a new level on Friday in their win over Hancock Central. 15 of 21 passing for 268 yards and four scores, his best performance to date. Sometimes things will just click and fall in to place for a guy and while he has the talent, Anderson feels it was just the night where everything went well.
"I just started throwing good from the beginning, and we caught it, that helps" said quarterback Dane Anderson "I don't know if it was my decisions, it was just my receivers getting open and I was able to hit them in stride and they'd take it in."
"He made some really good tosses" said coach Matt LeZotte "I told him during the game after we decided not to put him back in at the end of the game, I went over to him and i was like Dane, you made some plays tonight, and I've been expecting it and that's what I expect from you. I was really proud of him."
As you might expect from an underclassmen, he's had some ups and downs but Friday was definitely the high point of the season. That season, not over yet. If Aquians beats Washignton Wilkes Friday, there's still a chance for a playoff spot. But for his efforts Friday, we honor Aquinas quarterback Dane Anderson as our OFL McDonald's player of the week.
