Evans Jonathan Finch our OFL player of the week

Wednesday Oct. 21, 2009

Evans, Ga--One of the biggest games this Friday has Hephzibah playing host to Evans. A huge region showdown which should go a long way in determining who's champ. One big cog in the Evans offense is our operation football live player of the week, running back Jonathan Finch.

Finch actually got off to a slow start this year but has really picked up the pace in the last month going over the hundred yard mark in each game. That includes this past Friday when he hit the end zone twice on long runs against Josey. Evans has always spread the wealth when it comes to running the ball and Finch admits early on he was trying to do too much.

"I started off trying to be a leader at the beginning but you know some people have to stay quiet and I'm more of a quiet person. I motivate my teammates, congratulate them on the things they do and try to be better every year." said Jonathan Finch

"Earlier in the year I heard him saying that he was trying to be vocal and I said look John, I think you do better when you are just you, be a good running back and run hard and don't worry about what other folks are doing and take care of yourself." added coach Marty Jackson

Finch seems to have things figured out now and could play a big role in the success of the Knights in the last few weeks of the season and into the playoffs.
