Sandersville, GA--No one will confuse Washington County's Montravious Gladden with a big bruiser back that can physically beat up and opponent. But this week's Operation Football Live, McDonald's player of the week is short on stature but large on talent.
Gladden's nickname is whistle seeing he's always been a whistler. The tune he's going at right now has been more then impressive. This past week against Troup County 220 yards on the ground and five touchdowns. He's played a large part in the success of the golden hawks. Who says size is a disadvantage in football?
"I just feel like size doesn't matter, you just have to go out and do what you have to do and it depends on your offensive line and your teammates." said Montravious Gladden "They just stay on blocks and they like to finish everything we do and they just keep our confidence up in everything we do."
"He's small in stature but to watch the film and see some of runs he makes and not just the long one's where he shows off his quickness and speed but how he sticks it up in there between the tackles" said Joel Ingram "That's about 90% of our offense is between the tackles and for him to do that with the courage and the power he does it with is a testament to him."
Gladden's goal for the year is 200 plus yards a game and he's well on his way. With a team stacked and poised for a run deep into the playoffs, coach ingram says he'll keep feeding him the ball. So for his efforts this past Friday we honor Washington County's Montravious Gladden as our Operation Football Live player of the week.
