North Augusta, SC--It's a scary proposition for North Augusta opponents. The Jackets have already flexed their muscle and are looking to get better. One big reason they're this good, this quick, the play of wide receiver Matt Hazel, who's our Operation Football Live, McDonald's player of the week.
Hazel is putting up numbers you see in video games. This past week against Strom Thurmond, 6 catches for 187 yards and two more touchdowns. Here, I'll do the math, that's an average of 31 yards a grab. The hard work is paying off on a loaded team.
"He works really hard in the weight room" said coach Dan Pippin "He squats over 400 pounds, he power cleans over 250 pounds, benches over 250 pounds and he only weights about 190 pounds. It's just fun to see kids like Matt, who've worked hard forever, that are real successful now."
"We have some good play makers on our team." said Matt Hazel "We don't have to rely on one person to get the ball, we have so many different play makers on offense and defense so it's kind of hard to key on just one player."
Hazel will be put to the test this week going against the Musketeers Evan Dansby but the Jacket wide receiver has received offers from five programs already himself. And for his efforts this week, North Augusta's Matt Hazel is our Operation Football Live player of the week.
