Home school team is hungry for wins

Thursday Aug. 27, 2009

Augusta, Ga--Our final gone camping preview is far and away the most unique you will find. The team name is the CSRA Guardians. The school, well, it's at home. They are actually a group of home school kids playing eight man football.

All told, there are 11 of them so the number one priority is conditioning. When you only have a sub or two, being in shape and being healthy is a must. George Eastman is the head coach this year and knows this is a unique challenge to say the least.

"It's fun to me and a unique challenge because I'm use to 11 man" said coach George Eastman "You can run so many different offenses with 11 man but in eight man you just have to pick and chose what ones are the best to run with."

Taylor Hudspeth is one of the "seniors" on the team as he use to play at Greenbrier. He's actually pretty confident the team can do something it didn't do last year.

"Win...hit hard and don't give up" said Taylor Hudspeth "We're small but like I said, we're quick and we have a lot of aggressive guys out here. We're all pretty strong and we like to hit each other hard and that's the way we plan on playing."

Coach Eastman says the kids do miss out on the school feel to playing football and the challenges ahead will be interesting to say the least.
