Warrenton, Ga--While a lot of schools are concerned about the number of players being down this year, for the Screaming Devils of Warren County, just the opposite. They've nearly doubled in number of players and they hope it all equates to wins.
Marleau Blount takes over as head coach and couldn't be happier about the number of kids on the field. While they only lost three guys from last years team, there's a little concern about leadership since they were just that, leaders. Time for some of the younger kids to step up and be noticed.
"Our youthful experience, we have a lot of young kids but yet they were in the fire last year and they're coming back this year and we have a lot of them coming back next year so it's still a work in progress but we'll be better this year then last year I hope." said new coach Marleau Blount
"We have more players that came out so they help a lot." said Tay Erwin "But the three seniors we lost was a big key."
Besides experience, coach Blount is happy with the type of kids he has, athletes, something the program has been known to have over the years. That bodes well for a team looking to improve on a four win season.
"Probably our team speed. We're going to be pretty fast I hope. As far as it looks on the practice field and as long as they transfer it to the game field I'd say our speed is going to be one of our major factors." added coach Blount
Dondracus Dozier will get the nod at quarterback. Dozier actually broke his arm last year at the start of things so spent the year learning by watching. Big frank ivey will anchor the line and don't be surprised if the Devils return to the post season.
