Thomson playing with young but motivated players

There are two things that almost seem synonymous with the Thomson Bulldogs. Winning and head coach Luther Welsh. This season, we know Coach Welsh is back. As for the winning, we'll have to wait and see.

That's because this is a young Bulldog team this year. After losing a lot of skill players, the Bulldogs know this will be somewhat of a rebuilding year. But don't think this team doesn't have its eyes set on the playoffs. Even with just 6 seniors, this is a team that believes they can win and make the playoffs once again.

"It's alright. It just means we have to work hard with the few numbers of seniors we've got," said junior lineman Leroy Cummings. "I believe we can do what we want to do with the people we've got right now."

"It's going to take them a little time to mature a little bit and get a little experience," said Welsh, "and get some confidence that they can play with older people."

6'4 Phillip Anderson takes over at quarterback and expect a new offense for the Bulldogs. One that features shotgun formations and passing, something uncommon for a Thomson team. The Bulldogs begin the season at home against Washington-Wilkes.
