Blackville, SC--While it may be a work in progress at Blackville Hilda, the finished product, I can all but guarantee will be a winner. Doesn't matter if the Hawks have to replace one guy or 21 this team wins football games more then just about any team out there.
It's called reloading instead of rebuilding for Blackville Hilda and they'll have to find a new weapon to rely on. Last year it was Joe Thomas who carried a good portion of the offensive. This year, guys like Jamell Dukes and Chris Kearse will have to step up their game. The strength of this year's team, defense and it becomes pretty simple theory they subscribe to.
"Hopefully on the defensive side of the ball we can keep people off the board." said David Berry "You keep them off the board you can win a lot of ballgames, but that's yet to be seen right now. That's what we are focal point right now is really working on the defensive side of the ball.'
Don't be surprised if the hawks throw the ball a little bit more then usual. Kearse has been a starter for a few years now. Also, don't be surprised if they win and win a lot. It's tradition the kids have come accustom to.
"The fellas and the young guys that are just coming up, they're just excited about playing and since we have a winning record they just ready." said senior Larry Johnson
"We have some kids that are eager to learn and eager to work and we're hoping they can improve week in and week out." added coach Berry
Coach Berry is still looking for a leader to step forward and says it's not unusual nobody has stepped up as of yet. The Hawks open the season at Denmark Olar on the 28th
