Thomas Jefferson Guns For Third Title In Four Years

Tuesday Nov. 25, 2008
Louisville, Ga--It's been a remarkable run for Thomas Jefferson Academy. Four straight trips to the state finals. How many schools around can say that? Jagaurs set to host the finals Friday night against Terrell Academey.

Jags back on the practice field earlier today just trying to fine tune things. The opponent, the same team they beat a year ago in the semi's. Imagine being one of the eight seniors on the team who've played for a title every year on varisty. Talk about living a dream.

"It's unbelievable man, it's awesome" said Senior Ben Phillips "It's what we've been looking forward to since third grade, getting to state our senior year. We had some in's awesome!"

"This team is unique" said coach Chuck Wimberly "They're more business like. I feel like they go at the game and at practice like doing they're job. It's not really a rah-rah group of kids I have. They just want to come out and do what they're suppose to do and they're on a mission."

This will be the first time in a while they haven't played Flint River, who moved up a class. Wimberly wouldn't have minded taking them on one more time but says change can be good. Thomas Jefferson hosts the title game Friday night at 7:30.
