When Burke County head coach Eric Parker made this season's schedule, he knew it would';t be easy. but now, the tough schedule is paying off as the Bears move into round two of the playoffs.
In fact, the Bears gave won 6 in a row, including last week;s 42-14 win over Mary Persons at home. In that game, the Bears offense scored touchdowns on their first 5 possessions. But next up for the Bears is a nearly 5-hour road trip to Cairo. The Syrupmakers are undefeated and maybe the best Class AAA team in the state, making this a tough matchup for the Bears.
"As far as teams are concerned, of a combination of offense and defense, this is probably the best team we've faced," said Parker. "We've been preparing ourselves all year, trying to get to this point and hopefully, we'll eb ready on Friday night when it's time to play Cairo."
And expect the Bears to go into this Friday's game expecting to score. They've put up 40 points or more in their last two games.
