Gibson, Ga---You hear it all the time in sports, records are made to be broken. At Glascock County, that's exactly the case this season.
It's been a long time since fans in Glascock County have had a reason to be excited for high school football. Now, the time has arrived. The Panthers are four and two, giving this year's team the most wins in school history.
" We tied the record the last two years but it's gratifying that we were able to break it but we want to shatter that this yar. Not just win 4 and look past that." said coach Chris Kelly
For a team that's been around since the 70's, getting four wins is a big step. So what's been the differnce.?
"We've got people that want to win." said quarterback Ronnie Gillyard. "We lift weights. We didn't do that much when I was in ninth grade and we done got into everybody wants to win."
Head coach Chris Kelly also deserves credit. The former Panther himself is in his seventh year and by the looks and sounds of things, he seems to be the right man for the job.
"Sometimes you don't want to come and stuff and he'll come get you and make you come to practice. And if you try to skip school, he'll try and call your parents and make you come to practice. He'll stay on your butt and make you work hard every day" added Gillyard
"What I tell them is that we gotta stay hungry. We haven't finished the job. We've got four games left and we won't be satisfied until those four games are over and hopefully we're successful in all four of them." added coach Kelly
