Augusta, Ga--Don't be surprised if it goes extremely well for the Laney Wildcats this year. Plenty of experience up and down the roster bodes well for a team that made it to the playoffs a year ago.
This is Lamuel Lackey's second year at the helm and the learning curve isn't that steep with the guys they have back. Kwame Cunningham and Eguene Moore are just two guys back in the offensive backfield and plenty of returners to block for them. Guys like Arthur Hope and Donyell Porter should open the holes. Experience means chemistry, chemistry means touchdowns and wins
"It's a good group, they've been together for two years starting so they've gelled and their chemistry is getting a lot better." said head coach Lamuel Lackey
A year ago Laney lost in the first round of the playoffs. Obviously these guys remember it and want to build from it. It wasn't necessarly anything glaring that was lacking, it was just a learning experience.
"You learn from your mistakes and learn not to make them again." said senior Courtney Roundtree
"One good thing about it is we know the kids, they know you, they know what to expect and a lot of the good things involved with the program we didn't change at all." added coach Lackey
Once again Laney will have one of the toughest schedules around with every game a region game. They open up with Jefferson County this Friday at home.
