It was just two years ago when North Augusta ended the season with just one win. But that's all a distant memory now as this year's team has their sights set on another trip to the playoffs.
Third year head coach Dan Pippin has led the trunaround. Last year, the team exceeded many expectations, winning 6 games and making the playoffs. Now, this team is ready to take that next step, which is to win a playoff game. And for that to happen, the Yellow Jackets have to focus on the fundamentals.
"Just doing little things right," says Pippin. "Holding each other accountable to the standards that were set here at North Augusta a long time ago. The tradition here is tremendous and we need to start living up to it."
The Yellow Jackets bring back a good amount of talent. Seven starters on offense, including 1,200 yard rusher Tidy Johnson. And Brett Johnson returns to lead a defense that returns eight starters. And all that talent will be needed this season, especially with the tough schedule that lies ahead.
"I think we've got one of the toughest regions in South Carolina," says Brett. "So we're just gonna go out and try to work harder than them and come together as a team and just play with passion and try to get a win."
The Yellow Jackets kick off their 2008 campaign at home against Midland Valley.
