Sylvania, Ga--South Carolina gets the early start to the season, Georgia kicks off a week from tonight. One team that'll make plenty of noise once again, the Gamecocks of Screven County.
It's pretty easy to see why with their entire offensive backfield returning. Among them, quarterback M.J. Johsnon, and running backs Travis Coles and Todd Scott. Throw in the fact a bunch of guys return on defense makes expectations of improving on a seven win season very realistic.
"Our running backs are all back, our quarterback is a two year starter and the halfback, wingback, and fullback are three year starters so they're very, very comfortable in what they're doing" said head coach Pat Collins "They don't have to hesitate and think about what they're doing, they're just able to run to plays fluidly and with some intensity."
"Last year we had seven (wins) but this year I think we're working twice as hard so for our region, I expect us to come out on top this year" said running back Travis Coles
Once again Screven will be in a region loaded with the likes of Laney, Jefferson County and Swainsboro so nothing will come easy. Every game is a region game for those teams. Work is cut out for them all.
