MARTINEZ, Ga.---Experience is prized at every level of every sport we cover. There is no substitute for it and the teams that possess it always hold an advantage. Little surprise then that the Augusta Christian Lions are having a successful season with two steely veterans leading the offense.
Lions quarterback Tyler Bourdo has three years of starting experience. He used all of that knowledge to score four touchdowns in last week's win.
Running back Jay Harmon has been a starter for four years. He punched in two scores and more than a hundred yards rushing in that game.
The lions are only as good as these two leaders each week and so far, Harmon and Bourdo have been excellent. Aside from their obvious talent, skill and determination, what makes them so successful is all those games under their belt.
Bourdo says, "The past year, everything seemed like it was moving faster but this year it's just kind of slowed down. The reads are a lot easier. You just see things you didn't see the year before."
Adds Harmon, "I've really learned discipline on the field more. At first it was fast moving. I wasn't real used to things when I was a freshman, then sophomore, junior I started too but it's not the same as my senior year. I like it a lot more."
Harmon and Bourdo have helped the Lions to a 5 and 1 record and earned the dual honor of our Operation Football Live Players of the Week.
