The streak is over: Bulldogs reflect on big win

For four years, the Butler Bulldogs couldn't claim a win. It was a 41-game streak of the worst kind.

But the great thing about sports is that all of that can change in just one night.

Without question, the streak is dead. The 42-0 win at Westside Friday night silenced the demons, and also showed just what the bulldogs are working with.

Jeffery Menefee ran for over 200 yards in the win, proving it wasn't a fluke.

The bulldogs are feeling confident, and the emotion of the win won't be leaving anytime soon.

Head Coach Ashley Harden says, ""To get the monkey off your back, it was great man. It was crazy at school today. Teachers and students came in on Sunday and decorated the student center. One teacher baked a cake. I asked the assistant principal, 'All this for one win?' She was like, 'Well, it's been a long time.' It's been great, and I think it's been great for the school."

Quarterback Clayton Johnson had a hard time even putting the feeling into words, saying, "It feels overwhelming. I mean, we played a great game, for the first time in a long time. I don't know how to feel really now."

Coach Harden added that confidence is higher than ever, and understandably so.

Instead of thinking of their overall record, the bulldogs' goal is just to go 1-0 each week.
