For Eagles, it's more than football

For the Augusta Eagles, football is just a little bit different activity. Along with teaching kids how to play the sport, it's also a place to meet new people.

For those that don't know, the Eagles are a compilation of Augusta area home schooled kids who want to play football.

Coach Chris Bradley says his players are ready to win, but coming from all different places can create a whole new group of challenges most teams don't deal with.

Bradley says, "I don't think they're missing out on anything, besides going to school, but it makes a big difference trying to keep them in the sports program and keeping them in shape and everything. It can be hard to keep them because they're not used to structure and having to keep up their stamina and staying in shape. They're not used to getting pounded over and over and over again."

And to get players, word of mouth becomes more important than ever.

Sophomore Ben Jessee says, "Some of my friends told me there was football, and I played for a small private school in middle school. I came here last year as a freshman, and it was different, but it was fun."

The Eagles aren't using their different structure as a crutch, though. Bradley and his team say they expect to win every time out.
