New attitude at South Aiken

South Aiken High School football.

For the last decade or so, South Aiken has been a program with good but not great success. But as with any program, the goal is to be great.

In steps first year Head Coach Jeremy West. He decided to give the Thoroughbreds a complete facelift, starting with new uniforms, a better offseason workout program and a better attitude.

After a strong performance at last week's Midland Valley Jamboree, it looks like Coach West just might be onto something.

He says, "We've got an outstanding work ethic. These young men bought into what we're trying to do at South Aiken, and we have 75-80 kids in the weightroom during the summer, and on the hot track during the summer. They have a great work ethic and play with a lot of heart."

Sophomore Running Back DeAndre Schoultz added, "We came together with Coach West. He pulled us together and helped us out. He got us new uniforms and we got together fundraisers we do as a team. I would never imagine the South Aiken T-breds back up at the top again like this."

It doesn't hurt that the T-breds have most of their skill position players back. That includes the super sophomore Schoultz, who is starting at running back and safety and returns punts.
