Predators Ready to Start Winning

Four years into its football life, Fox Creek has definitely faced its fair share of hardship.

Up until now, the Predators have faced a non-region schedule that included the likes of Silver Bluff and Midland Valley, and they took their knocks from the more established programs.

That has changed, though. There is a new school, the team is on a new practice field, and the schedule has undergone a non-region overhaul.

The opener this year is Branchville, a squad only in its third year, and the Predators are definitely feeling more confident about how their season could start.

Head Coach Russ Schneider says, "Scheduling is a big difference. It's positive on our end because we started the last two years with Midland Valley and Silver Bluff. With us just starting out, it doesn't get any harder than that. So, we're opening up with Branchville and Academic Magnet, who are both A schools, and it just gives us a better chance to build confidence."

Regardless of schedule, it can still be tough to form a winning attitude for a team with only five wins in four years.

This team has a lot of experience, though, and those upperclassmen are ready to lead a successful team.

Junior Quarterback Marty Williams says, "We'll need more leadership, and the attitudes have no place at all. In order to be a successful team you have to work together, and you can't have a bad attitude about it."

Fox Creek has never experienced early season wins, so a fast start could be just what the Predators need to have a memorable year.
