Sept. 28, 2013 The Pittsburgh Pirates are set to host the first playoff game at PNC Park.
Pittsburgh native Neil Walker homered twice and the Pirates beat Cincinnati 8-3 on Saturday to win the top spot in the NL wild-card race.
The Pirates will host the Reds on Tuesday night, with the winner advancing to the division series. Francisco Liriano (16-8) is scheduled to pitch for Pittsburgh against Johnny Cueto (5-2).
The AL wild-card chase is much more scrambled. Cleveland leads by one game over both Tampa Bay and Texas, and it's possible there could be a three-way tie for the two spots after the teams play Sunday on the last scheduled day of the regular season.
The wild-card winner will open the AL playoffs at Boston. Detroit starts at Oakland in the other best-of-five division series.
The NL pairings aren't set yet, but St. Louis and Atlanta will open at home.
