DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) -- Bill Haas played the best golf in the toughest conditions Friday in the rain-delayed Memorial.
When the second round was suspended because of a third delay, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were close to each other on the leaderboard, both far away from Haas. That didn't bode well for Woods, who had a double bogey and struggled in the wind and on fast greens for a 74. He was 10 shots behind Haas, who had a 5-under 67.
McIlroy was in danger of missing the cut until he fired off five birdies in 14 holes. He was one shot inside the cut line -- and one shot behind Woods. McIlroy was in a greenside bunker in two shots at the par-5 15th hole when play was stopped. The second round is to resume at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Haas had a three-shot lead among those who finished the round.
