Braves fall to Boston in series finale

Kason Gabbard, just up from Triple-A, struck out a
career-high seven while shutting Atlanta out for the first five
innings to pitch Boston past Atlanta 6-to-3.
Called up earlier in the day to make his 2007 debut, Gabbard
held Atlanta hitless through three and two-thirds innings and
retired 12 of the first 13 batters he faced. He left with a 6-to-0
lead. Four relievers preceded closer Jonathan Papelbon, who pitched
the ninth in a non-save situation. Gabbard is 1-and-0.
Tim Hudson stumbled in his worst start of the year to fall to
6-and-2. He gave up four runs in the first inning and another in
the second. He allowed six runs before getting knocked out in the
fifth.
