ANAHEIM, CA--The Los Angeles Angels say Thursday night's home game against Oakland has been postponed.

That comes after rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart has was killed in a hit-and-run car crash after Wednesday night's game.

Adenhart, 22, was a right-handed pitcher from Silver Spring, MD. He had pitched in the minor leagues since 2005, including last season for Salt Lake City of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.

University of California, Irvine Medical Center spokesman John Murray says Adenhart died Thursday morning after undergoing surgery.

Officials said Adenhart was one of three people killed in the crash early Thursday, hours after he started in a loss to the Oakland Athletics.
He pitched six shutout innings in that game, but was not involved in the decision.
