Sunday, December 21, 2008. (AP) -- Vijay Singh has finished off the golf season in style, making a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday for a one-shot victory over Steve Stricker in the Chevron World Challenge.
Singh closed with a 5-under 67 at Sherwood Country Club and won Tiger Woods' charity event for the first time. He finished at 11-under 277 and earned $1.35 million.
It was his first tournament since he captured the FedEx Cup and its $10 million prize on Sept. 28.
Anthony Kim and Jim Furyk both had a share of the lead on the back nine until they collapsed over the final five holes.
