STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Authorities say a Mississippi State tennis player has been arrested and charged with raping a 20-year-old woman during a party at his apartment.
Christopher Richard Doerr, who is from London, was in jail Tuesday on a $50,500 bond. The 20-year-old junior also faces a charge of furnishing beer to a minor. The woman told deputies she was assaulted at Doerr's apartment
in Starkville over the weekend. Authorities were called to the Oktibbeha County Hospital early Sunday.
Doerr was 3-5 in three fall tournaments in 2007 and went 3-3 in doubles play. University athletic department officials have not commented on Doerr's status with the team. A message left for Oktibbeha County sheriff's office to see whether Doerr had an attorney was not immediately returned.
