Saturday, November 8, 2008. (AP) -- Steve Marino shot a 6-under par 66 to tie Scott Verplank for the lead heading into the final round of the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Disney World.
After carding back-to-back 64s and bringing a three-shot lead into play, Verplank signed for a 3-under 69 to get to 19-under with one round to play at Disney World. He had the lead to himself before taking a bogey on 18.
Davis Love III fired a day-low 64 and is tied for third with Scott Sterling, who had a 6-under 66. Charles Howell III is -12.
Love is coming off an ankle injury that kept him out for six weeks this summer and is ranked 96th in the latest money winning projections. Golfers need to finish in the top 125 to keep their PGA card, so he's safe there. A win Sunday, though, would be his 20th career victory, giving him a lifetime exemption.
