sunday, September 7, 2008. (AP) -- Camilo Villegas has won the BMW Championship, a wire-to-wire victory made possible by three big putts Sunday on the back nine at Bellerive for his first PGA Tour title.
Villegas closed with a 2-under 68 for a two-shot victory over Dudley Hart, whose birdies on the final two holes earned him a spot in the Masters.
Vijay Singh all but secured the FedEx Cup when he tied for 44th. He has such a large lead in the points race that he only has to complete four rounds at East Lake in the Tour Championship to collect the $10 million payoff.
But the surly Singh didn't seem too interested. In a move that took even more shine off the tour's new prize, Singh refused to speak to NBC Sports and walked past a group of other media after finishing his round.
Villegas, a 26-year-old Colombian in his third year on the PGA Tour, finished at 15-under 265 and earned $1.26 million.
