NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Saints will be on their home
turf for Sunday's season-opener. Forced to flee to Indianapolis ahead of Hurricane Gustav, the Saints announced today they'll be able to open their season as scheduled against Tampa Bay at the Louisiana Superdome.
A spokesman for the company that owns the stadium says the
state-owned Superdome suffered only minor damage from the storm:
ripped exterior signs, downed fences and light poles blown over.
However, there's power in the area and no interior damage. Saints GM Mickey Loomis says the team will continue practicing in Indianapolis and return to New Orleans Friday.
