Friday, August 22, 2008. (AP) -- The march to the gold continued without so much as a misstep when the U.S. men's basketball squad dominated yet another game in beating Argentina 101-81. It moves them into the gold medal game against Spain, a team they beat by 37 points in pool play.
Carmelo Anthony led U.S. scoring. LeBron James had 15. He scored 13 of those in the second half.
The U.S. rout was made a little easier when Argentina lost leading scorer Manu Ginobili to an ankle injury in the first quarter. Luis Scola was high scorer for Argentina with 26 points.
The Redeem Team has not manhandled the defending Olympic gold medalists in Argentina and the reigning world champions in Spain. While the U.S goes for the gold, Argentina plays Lithuania for the bronze.
The gold medal game will be played on Sunday.
