WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Defending champion Venus Williams has
advanced to the fourth round at Wimbledon with a 6-1, 7-5 win over
Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez. Bidding for a fifth Wimbledon title, Williams dominated the first set Saturday, breaking the No. 101-ranked Martinez Sanchez' serve twice and finishing in 25 minutes.
She had a tougher time in the second set when the Spanish player
started to serve and volley. Williams was up a break before Martinez Sanchez broke back, on her first chance of the match, to even at 4-4 and saved four break points on her own serve. Williams won the next three games to clinch it, closing with two aces.
