(AP) -- Kansas guard Mario Chalmers has declared for the NBA draft, but is leaving open the possibility of returning to the national champion Jayhawks by not signing with an agent.
The 6-foot-1 junior says he'll enter the June 26th draft only if he's projected to be taken in the first round. He says he's currently expected to be picked between 25th and 35th, but hopes to move up through predraft workouts.
D.J. Augustin says he is leaving Texas after two seasons to turn pro.
The All-America point guard averaged 19.2 points and 5.8 assists to lead the Longhorns to school-record 31 wins and a share of the Big 12 regular season championship. Texas advanced to the NCAA regional finals before losing to Memphis.
Augustin won the Bob Cousy Award as college basketball's top point guard.
Meanwhile, the leading scorer in the Italian basketball league also has declared for the NBA draft. Nineteen-year-old Danilo Gallinari is averaging 17.5 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 39.8 percent from 3-point range.
