DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas will be without star forward Dirk Nowitzki indefinitely after he suffered a high ankle sprain and sprained knee. He was injured in last night's loss to San Antonio. Nowitzki is getting around in a protective boot but without crutches.
Nowitzki ranks seventh in the NBA with a 23-point-6 average. He's also the Mavericks' leading rebounder.
The Mavericks are struggling to stay alive in the Western Conference playoff race after three straight losses. They're currently seventh in the conference, a half-game in front of Golden State.
