LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Phil Mickelson closed with a 1-under 70 to
win the PGA's Northern Trust Open by two shots over Jeff Quinney.
Mickelson wins for the 16th time in Arizona and California,
capturing the only event that eluded him on the Western swing.
Last year, Lefty was poised to win in Los Angeles until he
bogeyed the 18th hole and lost in a playoff against Charles Howell.
But this time he was steady down the stretch, scoring his 33rd
career victory. He finished with a 12-under total.
Quinney had four bogeys on the back nine and closed with an even
Padraig Harrington and Luke Donald finished tied for third at
