Twins and Livan Hernandez agree

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Pitcher Livan Hernandez and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a one-year contract worth at least 5 million dollars. He can earn an additional 2 million dollars in performance bonuses.

The veteran right-hander made 7 million dollars last season while going 11-and-11 with a 4.93 ERA in 33 starts for Arizona.

Hernandez adds a veteran presence to a Twins rotation that's short on experience after trading Johan Santana to the New York Mets and losing Carlos Silva as a free agent.

Hernandez has proved to be a durable pitcher over his 10-plus years in the major leagues. logging at least 199 innings each season since 1998.
