Clemens faces congressional staffers
CAPITOL HILL (AP) -- Roger Clemens spoke under oath for nearly five hours today to congressional staffers and denied using performance-enhancing drugs.
The seven-time Cy Young Award winner gave a deposition in the offices of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is looking into the use of performance enhancing drugs in baseball.
Following the session Clemens said he's happy that he was able to tell congressional lawyers what he's been saying all along -- that he's never used steroids or growth hormone. He did not take questions from reporters.
Clemens was accused in the Mitchell Report of using steroid and human growth hormone by his former personal trainer, Brian McNamee,
who says he injected the pitcher with the substances. Clemens has repeatedly denied the allegations.
Clemens' sworn testimony today was in preparation for a February 13th public hearing before the committee.
