Westside hungry for another trip to the playoffs

Monday, August 18, 2014

Augusta, Ga--They could be one of the more interesting teams to watch this year, the Patriots of Westside. Coming off a playoff season, the team has a new coach, but fully expect to get back to the post season.

Scott Tate is the new man in charge. He's been an assistant for a bunch of years and knows the kids and what they're capable of doing. Don't look for sweeping change, just enhancing what these guys have been doing in the past.

"We're not trying to reinvent the wheel or anything." said Scott Tate "We've added some things, we're still going to run the option but we've added some things off of it. I think anytime you get there, you want to get back to the playoffs. So that's our goal is to work hard and get back to the playoffs."

"Us being seniors, I mean this is our last year so it's like win or go home and we don't want to go home so we want to win." said Tyree McCord

Tyree McCord takes over at quarterback for Jalen Lampkin and McCord says he's learned a lot from him. A few other playmakers and a solid nucleus from a year ago have the Patriots firm believers in themselves.
