Dogwood Stable’s Palace Malice – coming off a breather after his $1 million Grade I Belmont Stakes victory – has now moved from Belmont Park to Saratoga Springs, New York, where his next race will be the $600,000 Grade I Jim Dandy Stakes on July 27, it was announced by Cot Campbell, Dogwood president.

“He worked a half mile by himself on Sunday, going in a spritely 49:2, and looked good doing it. Actually, Todd Pletcher put him back in work shortly after the Belmont, or he was going to tear the barn down,” Campbell said.

“The big objective is the Midsummer Derby – the $1 million Grade I Travers Stakes – on August 24. It is a mile and a quarter, and the Jim Dandy is a mile and an eighth.

In a perfect world after Saratoga, we would see one of the big races at Belmont in the fall, and then on to the Breeders’ Cup Championships in California at Santa Anita on November 2.”

The Dogwood pattern would see Palace Malice racing as a four-year-old in 2014. Following the Breeders’ Cup, Palace Malice would come back to Aiken for a breather of six to eight weeks.
