Paine College getting better despite not playing games

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Augusta, Ga--Of all our area basketball teams, it's the men of Paine College who've we've seen the least. Part of it by design with a light schedule here in the first month of the season.

To this point, thye've played just four games in a month with the GRU Augusta game the only one in the city limits. Kind of tough to find a rhythm when the games have been spaced so far out. But give this team credit, they all feel like they're on the same page so early in the season.

"We actually have a lot of chemistry, we work hard together, we all stay together no matter what, adversity or whatever, we're in it together" said Sean Morgan

"I think our team has really gelled together" said Jimmy Link "You know we have four tough losses against four good teams, right at the end. One was in overtime last week, Augusta State right at the end, all of them, Georgia College, all the way to Florida Tech on the road so we've been right there so I think our team is really going to well in our league"

They already have a lot of talent and should get more soon. Jerel Stephenson should be cleared academically any day now and transfer Toby Veal is expected to be cleared by the first of the year. Time they get all the pieces together, lions will be tough against everyone.
