Evans, Ga--It has been an amazing couple of years for Glenn Hills product and now Olympian George Kitchens. 12 months ago, it was the summer games in London. This year, its the world championships in Russia.
Kitchens is headed to Europe this weekend for his final prep work for the worlds. A little different bounce in his step now a days seeing he knows he belongs on this stage. Kitchens is now the U.S. champ in the long jump, a title he won a month ago. To be world champ, he has to be on top of his game.
"Realistically my focus is just on progress" said George Kitchens "You have to take it step by step in the championship. First you have to get into the finals and then once you get into the finals, that's when you let the magic happen. So just progress and once I get into the finals then I can really set my sites on reaching the podium."
To that end, Kitchens watches every little thing he does. From his workouts to his eating habits to make sure he's on top of his game. He'll first travel to Austria to get acclimated with the time change and then the world championships in Moscow August 10th thru the 18th.
