IRVING, Texas (AP) -- The Dallas Cowboys have released defensive end Caesar Rayford and replaced him with defensive tackle Corvey Irvin.

The moves Tuesday were the latest in a revolving door for an injury-riddled defensive front that was missing all four projected starters late in Sunday's 49-17 loss to New Orleans.

Rayford was acquired in a trade with Indianapolis before the season. He played in seven games and had six tackles and one quarterback pressure.

Irvin was a third-round pick by Carolina in 2009. He has appeared in 18 games, including 12 with Tampa Bay last season.

The Cowboys released guard Phillipkeith Manley and defensive tackle Jason Vega from their practice squad and added tackle John Wetzel.

Dallas has its bye this week before returning Nov. 24 at the New York Giants.
