Curtis Baptist hungry for more after playing for GISA title

Monday, August 18, 2014

Augusta, Ga-They were a win away from doing the improbable, winning a GISA state title. This year Curtis Baptist is looking for more, but with a couple of big differences.

First and foremost, a new coach. Assistant Cliff Richards is now in charge of the Crusaders. The confidence has changed greatly around this program and it showed in the off season and attitude.

"The kids bought in. The kids were so close last year, this summer and the off season lifting was tremendous this year because they knew they put in this much work and they got this close" said new coach Cliff Richards.

"We got a quicker pace, we have tempo, and we have a spread." said Christian Reid "I like the spread because we have speed guys in the slot and good guys on the outside."

Crusaders lost five seniors including a couple of big boys up front so they hope to use that speed to their advantage. A new league this year too, they'll be playing in the SCISA so a lot of new teams to get use to.
