GISA state tennis championships are set for next week and look for Augusta Prep to be in contention for a title.
Leading the Cavs, junior Brooke Stevens. She's still an underclassmen but has already won three individual state titles and could be a five time winner by the time it's all said and done. She's just coming back fully from sitting out nearly eight months with a herniated disc but is feeling pretty good now a days and the drive for five has been on her mind for quite some time
"I think after my second year" said Brooke Stevens "I think after my second year that Liza (Klyachkin) was the top of the competition and after beating her, I was like, maybe I can go for five and after my second title I was like I got this, and now it's growing that I can do it"
Stevens would also love to have the team win the title and that could happen Monday. Her older sister at one point, was the top junior player in the nation, so tennis is in the genes for Brooke. Did we mention she's still only a junior at Prep?
