Augusta Prep confident for title game

Thursday, March 5, 2014

Augusta, Ga--Ask coaches and kids and they'll tell you, winning breeds winning. At Augusta Prep, it's already been a memorable school year with the football team winning a title. Now, the basketball squad is trying to follow in their footsteps.

Last night's emotional win over Westminster punched their ticket to Saturday's title game. A lot of these kids played on the football team so they've learned to win. They've taken the same attitude onto the basketball court and is paid off in a big way.

"Like the players who played football and stuff, we were already close and we had that sense of unity and stuff and we brought it to basketball and we just got closer. It helped like the aggresiveness and stuff and attack and stuff, it helped a lot" said Rafay Chaudhary

"Winning a state championship in football, they kind of expect to come in and maybe win another one. I mean at the begining of the season we didn't expect to get this far, now that we're here, we are definitely confident" said Christan Guthrie

Augusta Prep will take on Stratford Saturday night back in Macon. The way these kids are playing and the confidence they have, hard to put much past them this time of year.
